The South Jersey Chapter wants the Mayor and Council of Somers Point, NJ to pass an ordinance on plastic bags.
In the Spring of 2018, activists from the South Jersey Chapter attended meetings of the Somers Point Mayor and Council and urged them to pass bag legislation. After a statewide law started moving that would put a 5 cent fee on both paper and plastic bags - with the fee going to the state - Somers Point decided a local fee going to merchants would be better.
So on June 28, 2018 they passed an ordiance for a 5 cent fee on plastic bags effective immediately.
